Our Style:
We would like to thank you for your interest in Maurud Photography and for visiting our website.
We like to take a mixture of candid and posed photographs. We try to keep the posed photos light and casual so we may give you an idea for a pose and then you can have fun with it. This way, we do get the desired shots but they aren't stiff looking. We will also take as many candid shots as possible.
If Aunt Edna wants to take pictures while we are, that is absolutely OK. We don't believe in totally controlling the environment, just offering suggestions to get the best pictures. It is YOUR day and we will work with you to capture the photos that matter most to you. We have a list of photo suggestions but we encourage you to add to the list at any time. See photo list.
Who We Are:
We are Arne Maurud and Treva Maurud Bastyr, a father/daughter photography team. Arne has been doing wedding photography for 15 years and Treva has been his assistant for 4 years.
Photography has been a hobby of Arne's since he was quite young. He received his first camera at age 7 and took pictures of anything and everything that was around. Sometimes, Arne would sneak into weddings and watch them from the balcony. There was something about the emotion and uniqueness of each wedding that drew him in.
He grew up and experienced life, all the while taking great pictures of people. Others constantly told Arne to get into photography as a profession. So he began to tag along to weddings with his friend who was a wedding photographer. Arne also took classes and graduated from The New York Institute of Professional Photography in 1990. Since then, he has been making a living doing what he loves; photographing weddings, high school seniors, children and families.
Treva has loved photography since high school but it took her some time to become her Dad's assistant. When she finally helped her dad with a few weddings, she instantly fell in love with the entire process. She spent hours on the internet and reading wedding books to find inspiration for wonderful and unique wedding pictures.
We love capturing not just the moments that everybody notices but also the behind the scenes and offbeat moments such as; A woman coming into the church in jeans and a blouse and then transforming into a beautiful bride, the look on the groom's face when he first sees his wife-to-be, the emotions of the parents during the ceremony and the grandparents just whooping it up on the dance floor.
It is a new, unique and special experience with every wedding that we do and our main goal is to convey that through each and every photograph that we take.
